The Hill School Project

In early December the Trustees met the Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure and Investment, Alex Neil and were able to present him with initial ideas for developing the Hill Primary School site. He was impressed by the project and said it fitted in with his idea of a bottom up regeneration policy. This policy was launched later in December entitled 'Achieving a Sustainable Future'.

He advised us to follow our plan to become a Development Trust and to gather the facts to demonstrate the feasibility of the project. He was interested in supporting our endeavours.

Since then the Trustees have established The Ericht Trust as a Development Trust and have made substantial progress with the feasibility study. The feasibility study is made up of 27 investigations that will demonstrate the viability and sustainability of the project. To date 20 have been completed and a programme is in place to finalise the survey by October 2012.

At that point, if the study can demonstrate that the project is viable, the Trustees will make a formal bid to Perth and Kinross Council for the site.
