ASBESTOS REPORT FOR HILL PRIMARY SCHOOL BUILDINGS

18th Nov 2012

In answer to a question asked at The Ericht Trust AGM on 1st November 2012 about asbestos in the Hill Primary School, we post below an answer to this question.

The Ericht Trust received reports from PKC on the three buildings. These were in compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regulation 2006 management sampling identification amd assessment surveys. The registers were compiled by Gordons Environmental Ltd (Pyeroy Group).

These were passed on to Mr G McDonald BSc (Hons) MRICS of J&E Shepherd Chartered Surveyors for comment at the time that they were commissioned by the Trust to carry out a Building Condition survey.

The report from Shepherds confirmed that the only asbestos found in the buildings were door beadings, toilet cisterns and vinyl floor coverings all of which will be replaced.

The asbestos reports were also passed to the Quantity Surveyors assisting the Trust pro bono. (John Duguid Partnership).

On checking we have discovered  that Gordons have been unable to access both cellars. We are asking PKC to rectify this and to confirm what is lagging the heating pipes in the underground ducts connecting the buildings.

Shepherds advised us in their report that when it comes to the Building Warrant application process it is likely that the Trust will have to commission and fund a Demolition/Refurbishment survey.
